How it is built
Each company's quarter is placed in the calendar quarter its fiscal period ends in, so companies with different financial years line up. Growth compares only companies that reported both the quarter and the same quarter a year earlier. A quarter appears once at least 80% of members have reported it. Margins and cash-flow lines leave out banks and insurers. Figures are as reported in SEC filings and are not adjusted for acquisitions.
