Nextpower shares rose 15.0% on 2026-11-02, closing at $91.25 after a previous close of $79.33. The move was 3.6x the size of a typical daily swing over the past year, and trading volume ran at 2.5x its 30-day average, the largest matching gain since 29 January 2025.

The broader market gave no lift: the S&P 500 fell 0.1% that day, and the median move among Nextpower's covered peer group fell 1.7%, confirming the rally was specific to this stock rather than part of a sector-wide swing.

A beat and a guidance raise, five days earlier

The move followed Nextpower's second-quarter fiscal 2027 results, released on 28 October. Adjusted diluted earnings per share came in at 1.31, beating the consensus estimate of 1.10 by 19.2%, with 3 of the last three quarterly reports now ahead of consensus. Revenue reached $1.1 billion, up 22.5% year over year and up 18.6% from the prior quarter, which the company called a record. Bookings also reached a quarterly record, and backlog exceeded $6 billion, according to the earnings release. Nextpower raised its full-year outlook alongside the results, to revenue of $4.2 billion to $4.45 billion and adjusted diluted earnings of $4.61 to $4.87 a share, both above the ranges it had set three months earlier.

Margins and cash flow move the other way

Those headline figures sit alongside continued compression elsewhere. Operating margin for the quarter was 18.7%, down 1.3 percentage points from the year-ago quarter, and net margin was 14.9%, down 1.3 percentage points from 16.2%. Over the trailing twelve months, free cash flow fell 15.1% even as net income rose 6.3%, pulling the free cash flow margin to 13.4%, down 4.5 percentage points from a year earlier. Operating cash flow over the same period fell 11.6%. Diluted shares outstanding rose 2.5% year over year, even as the company said it returned approximately $162 million to shareholders through share repurchases in the first half of the fiscal year.

What the November 16 investor day could confirm

Nextpower is scheduled to hold a Capital Markets Day in Las Vegas on 16 November, where it plans to detail its longer-term strategy and financial framework, according to the earnings release. Its next quarterly results are due 27 January 2027. Either event would show whether the growth deceleration and the gap between earnings and cash flow evident this quarter continue, or whether the record bookings and backlog convert into the cash generation the share-price move implies.
