C+ Fundamentals grade

EchoStar is a United States communications company providing pay-television, wireless and satellite broadband services. Its television offering trades as DISH TV, its wireless business operates as a Hybrid Mobile Network Operator after discontinuing its own 5G network deployment in 2025, and its satellite broadband operations are run through its subsidiary, Hughes Satellite Systems Corporation.

Customers are mainly residential subscribers who pay recurring fees for television, wireless and broadband connections. The wireless business depends on radio spectrum licensed by the Federal Communications Commission, and the company has agreed to sell a substantial portion of its spectrum holdings under separate transactions with AT&T and SpaceX.

EchoStar is organised into three segments: Pay-TV, Wireless, and Broadband and Satellite Services, the last of which includes operations outside the United States. Its wireless licences are typically granted by the FCC for terms of ten to twelve years, and the company has invested over $30 billion in total to acquire its wireless spectrum holdings.
