C+ Fundamentals grade

Allegro MicroSystems designs and markets two families of analogue semiconductor chips: magnetic sensor integrated circuits (ICs) and application-specific power ICs. Its sensors measure current, position and speed; its power products include motor drivers, voltage regulators, power-management ICs and isolated gate drivers. These chips perform the sensing, motion-control and power-management functions inside electromechanical and power-conversion systems, and use Hall-effect and magnetoresistive technologies, including its XtremeSense tunnelling-magnetoresistive line.

It makes money selling these chips, chiefly into automotive and industrial markets, the latter spanning AI data centres, robotics and energy infrastructure. Customers include most major carmakers, tier-one suppliers and data-centre and automation customers, reached through a direct sales force, distributors and independent representatives. Allegro is fabless: it outsources wafer fabrication to third-party foundries while running its main assembly and test site in the Philippines.

It runs design and applications centres in North America, South America, Asia and Europe, and in fiscal 2026 reorganised its sales force by end market rather than region. The catalogue exceeds 1,500 products, and Allegro ships about 2.1 billion units a year to more than 15,000 customers, claiming the largest share of the magnetic sensor IC market.

Earlier notes (2)

10-Q filed July 31: Allegro Microsystems

Allegro Microsystems lifted revenue to $1.01bn in the twelve months to June 2026, a 27.9% rise on the year-earlier period and an acceleration from the 24.2% growth recorded a quarter earlier. Profitability also improved markedly. Free-cash-flow margin climbed to 10.4%, up from 7.4% a year earlier, while operating margin swung to 7.5% from -1.2%. Taken together, these figures point to a business converting faster top-line growth into genuine cash generation and operating profit, rather than simply expanding its sales base. Reflecting this broad-based improvement, the company's fundamentals grade has been upgraded from C to C+, a modest but notable step for a firm still working to prove consistent profitability.

What the price is pricing in

The share price implies about 38.3% a year of cash-flow growth for five years. That is faster than the 5.6% a year revenue growth Allegro Microsystems has delivered.

Read with care: free cash flow has swung sharply in the past year (often a one-off tax, legal or working-capital item), so the cash-flow base behind this reading may be unusually low or high.

Lower and higher growth cases span ~$6.0–~$11 ; that spread sets a 25% margin before we rate Buy or Sell.
