NASDAQ: SWKS Nasdaq Semiconductors

C+ Fundamentals grade

Skyworks Solutions designs, manufactures and supplies analog and mixed-signal semiconductors — the radio-frequency and power components used to connect and run electronic devices. Its catalogue runs to roughly 4,900 distinct products, including amplifiers, switches, antenna tuners, SAW, TC-SAW and BAW filters, front-end modules, timing devices and digital power isolators, alongside its Sky5 platform for 5G systems. These parts go into smartphones, tablets, wearables, cars, broadband and connected-home equipment, industrial controls, medical devices and aerospace and defence hardware.

The company sells chips rather than services, shipping products to original equipment manufacturers and reference-design partners on individual purchase orders via its own sales team, component distributors and independent representatives. Its roughly 6,900 customers include Apple, Samsung, Google, Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia and Tesla; Apple has historically been its largest, accounting for more than a tenth of sales.

Skyworks runs engineering, manufacturing, sales and service sites across Asia, Europe and North America, and holds around 5,200 issued patents worldwide. It combines its own fabrication with outside foundry partners under a hybrid manufacturing model.
