CrowdStrike, founded in 2011, is a cybersecurity company whose Falcon platform uses cloud-based artificial intelligence to detect and stop breaches. A single lightweight sensor installed on endpoints and cloud workloads collects data that feeds the platform's 33 cloud modules, covering endpoint and cloud-workload security, identity protection, security information and event management (SIEM), log management, data protection, threat intelligence and workflow automation, including a generative-AI assistant, Charlotte AI.
Customers range from large enterprises to small businesses, plus US federal, state and local government bodies; the platform holds a FedRAMP authorisation and a Department of Defense Impact Level 5 provisional authorisation, and 25 of the 50 US states have standardised on it at enterprise level. CrowdStrike earns revenue mainly through subscriptions to its cloud-delivered modules, sold directly and through channel partners, managed service providers, and marketplaces run by Amazon, Google and Microsoft.
The company sells internationally, with operations across Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, including Japan, alongside its US home market, and also provides managed detection and response services, such as Falcon Complete, for customers with limited in-house security expertise.
