MongoDB provides a developer data platform built around a general-purpose database that uses a document-based architecture to store, organise and process data, including unstructured data. Alongside the database, the platform offers integrated services such as full-text and vector search, time-series handling, stream processing, application-driven analytics and queryable encryption. Its main commercial products are Atlas, a fully managed multi-cloud database-as-a-service, and MongoDB Enterprise Advanced, a self-managed subscription that includes a commercial licence, management tools and analytics integrations.
Customers span industries and range from developers to large enterprises, with sales focused on organisations that build many applications. The company earns revenue mainly from subscriptions, with Atlas billed on usage as consumption grows, and it also sells consulting and training. Community Server and a free Atlas tier are offered to draw developers towards paid plans. As of 31 January 2026 it had over 65,200 customers across more than 100 countries.
It sells through a direct sales force and partners including the three major cloud providers. Atlas runs in more than 130 regions across Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. In February 2025 it acquired Voyage AI, and it employs 5,636 people.
