Crown Castle owns and operates communications infrastructure across the United States, principally towers, small cells and fibre. It leases space and capacity on these assets to tenants that attach their own equipment, and it also provides site development services on its towers, having discontinued installation services as a tower offering in 2023.
Its main customers are wireless carriers, including AT&T and T-Mobile, which deploy antennas and related equipment to deliver mobile coverage and data. Income comes mainly from long-term site rental contracts under which tenants pay to use its towers, small cells and fibre, together with fees from its services activity. The company is structured as a real estate investment trust.
The business is organised into Towers and Fiber segments. As of 31 December 2025, roughly 55% of its towers were leased, subleased or operated and managed under master arrangements with AT&T and T-Mobile, carrying options to buy the towers at the end of their terms. Crown Castle has agreed to sell its Fiber Business, with Zayo taking the fibre solutions business and EQT the small cell business.
