Cintas supplies products and services that help businesses present a clean, safe and professional image. Its offerings include uniform rental, mats, mops, shop towels and restroom supplies, alongside workplace water services, first aid and safety items, automated external defibrillators, eye-wash stations, safety training, fire extinguishers and sprinkler and alarm testing. Founded in 1968, the company grew from an original uniform-fabric business after acquiring a family industrial laundry operation in the early 1970s.
Customers range from small service and manufacturing firms to large corporations, totalling more than one million businesses, mainly in the United States, plus Canada and Latin America. Revenue comes from renting and servicing items, selling supplies and catalogue goods to customers on delivery routes, and providing fire protection and direct uniform sales. No single customer makes up more than one percent of total revenue.
Operations are split into two reportable segments, Uniform Rental and Facility Services and First Aid and Safety Services, with Fire Protection Services and Uniform Direct Sale grouped under All Other. Cintas runs roughly 12,500 local delivery routes, 484 operational facilities, 12 distribution centres and five manufacturing plants. It has also agreed to acquire UniFirst Corporation, a deal valued at approximately $5.5 billion, expected to close in the second half of calendar 2026.
