Snap Inc is a technology company whose flagship product is Snapchat, a visual messaging app built around the smartphone camera. Snapchat opens directly to the camera and lets users send photo and video messages, known as Snaps, that are deleted by default. It is organised into five tabs — Camera, Visual Messaging, Snap Map, Stories and Spotlight — and offers augmented reality Lenses, the Bitmoji avatar tool and an AI chatbot called My AI. The company also makes Spectacles, wearable AR glasses running its own Snap OS, and provides Lens Studio for building AR experiences.
Most revenue comes from advertising: Snap sells brand and direct-response ad formats, including AR Lenses, Snap Ads, Story Ads and Commercials, through a self-serve platform. It also charges subscriptions through Snapchat+, Lens+ and Snapchat Platinum, and sells extra cloud storage for Memories.
Snap works with developers, creators, publishers and advertisers, and partners with telecoms firms and device makers in newer markets. It relies on third-party providers for infrastructure. As of 31 December 2025 it employed 5,261 full-time staff, around 54% in engineering roles.
